TJ doesn't just teach needling.
He teaches meridian mastery.

There's a world of difference between placing needles and hoping something happens โ€” and knowing exactly which points, at which depth, in which sequence will create a treatment your client will never forget.

TJ is what we call a Meridian Player. He doesn't guess. He doesn't hope. He knows the meridians intimately โ€” their anatomy, their emotional and physical expression, their pathology in the living body in front of him.

A person who carries chronic anger holds their body differently to someone living in fear. TJ sees that. And he treats it. That knowledge is what transforms a competent treatment into something your clients will never forget.

TJ Frank in a focused treatment session

TJ graduated from OCOM in 2005 and spent a decade working alongside Ram Dass on Maui โ€” an experience that shaped something essential about how he teaches and treats.

His approach integrates acupuncture, shiatsu, and the principles of bhakti yoga into a coherent clinical method. The work begins with opening the heart through the fire meridian sequence โ€” and responds to whatever arises from there.

When he travels, people move mountains to be in the room. This July, he's coming to Australia.

You're already needling.
You're seeing results.
But there is a gap.

Maybe you feel like you're working in hope sometimes โ€” placing needles, walking away, fingers crossed.

Maybe you wish you had more consistency. More confidence. More precision.

You don't have four years to go back to university.
But you do have two days.

This workshop is built to help practitioners like you upskill fast โ€” without the overwhelm, without the debt, and with immediate impact on your client outcomes.

What TJ teaches isn't available
anywhere else in this format.

"I finished my medical acupuncture training and it was immediately clear I was missing big pieces compared to TJ. Bhaktiatsu helped me see the meridians as gross anatomical structures โ€” not abstract lines, but the actual muscle and tendon pathways I was already needling. More than that, it showed me how the meridians underpin both physical and emotional function. A person who carries chronic anger holds their body differently to someone living in fear. Once you see that, you can't unsee it. Reducing the number of points to master actually gets better results โ€” completely changed how I practise. Better outcomes, less overwhelm."

Most courses give you points
and theory. This is different.

1

You learn meridian logic, not just points

Dry needlers are taught to needle locally. This workshop teaches you local + distal + empirical point selection โ€” and how to chain points along a channel for more powerful, longer-lasting effects. This is what shifts dry needling from a basic local technique into a sophisticated meridian-based system.

2

You learn what to do at the needle

It's not just about point location. Angle. Depth. Insertion quality. Manipulation. Practitioner posture and presence. TJ teaches you the techniques that get response, and he corrects your form throughout the weekend so you're not reinforcing poor habits.

3

The heart-centred approach improves clinical results

You don't need to believe anything spiritual to benefit from this training. But you will find that when you bring genuine presence into the treatment room, clients respond differently. Treatments hold better. Chronic patterns shift. The heart-centred approach isn't separate from the clinical work โ€” it's what makes the clinical work more effective.

All 12 meridians. Four Qi Gong forms.
Two days.

Each meridian follows the same rhythm โ€” TJ teaches the pathway and point logic, demonstrates, the group practises on partners, and TJ moves through the room to correct and refine.

From practitioners who've
trained with TJ.

The anatomy of the meridians was so much clearer than I expected. They really changed from being random lines to the gross muscle-tendon pathways I'm actually needling.

Workshop Participant

Being able to focus on just the main big-hitter points reduced the complexity into something I can really use effectively in my sessions.

Workshop Participant

For licensed practitioners
who needle.

This workshop is for practitioners who are already licensed and qualified to perform acupuncture or dry needling within their professional scope.

  • Registered acupuncturists
  • Dry needling practitioners
  • Massage therapists with appropriate needling scope
  • Physiotherapists & osteopaths
  • Medical doctors
Important Note

This is not a qualification pathway or introductory course. Bhaktiatsu advanced workshops are designed exclusively for practitioners who are already appropriately licensed to needle within their professional scope.

If you are not yet licensed to needle, this workshop is not currently suitable for you.

Frequently asked questions.

Absolutely. Most dry needling training doesn't teach meridians โ€” you're taught to needle locally. This workshop teaches you meridian logic: local + distal + empirical point selection, and how to chain points along a channel for more powerful, longer-lasting effects. You'll also work on needle technique that improves your results immediately.
If your training was strong in theory but light on practical technique refinement, this workshop gives you hands-on skill development with real-time correction. If your practice has narrowed over time, this broadens your treatment map and renews clinical confidence. And the heart-centred framework produces results that technique alone doesn't.
You're right โ€” it's not. But this workshop isn't trying to make you memorise everything in one weekend. The goal is to give you the framework, the logic, and the embodied experience of working each meridian. You'll leave with the manual, the muscle memory from partner needling, and the confidence to keep developing in your practice. It's an opening. A start.
TJ is in the room for the entire weekend โ€” not presenting from the front then sitting at a desk. He's guiding, teaching, demonstrating, and personally correcting your technique throughout every session. His depth of experience โ€” 20 years in medicine, a decade with Ram Dass, graduate training across multiple hospitals in China โ€” is rare. You're paying for hands-on skill development with a master practitioner, not for information you could read in a textbook.
The content is the same at both locations โ€” but the experience of going through it twice transforms your practice in ways a single weekend cannot. The first time, you're learning. The second time, you're integrating. By the end of Byron Bay, the meridian logic becomes automatic. Four full days with TJ, more correction, more refinement โ€” and you save $250 on the combined price.
Full refund available until March 31, 2026. 50% refund until April 30, 2026. No refunds after May 1, 2026 โ€” but you may transfer your registration to another qualified practitioner until May 1.
A Certificate of Completion is provided for each workshop day attended. This is suitable for self-administered CPD/CEU claims with your professional association. Check your association's requirements for self-directed learning hours.

TJ Frank โ€” Full Story

TJ started his medical training 20 years ago in emergency medicine as an EMT, then continued at UC Davis with a degree in Cognitive Neuroscience โ€” the study of consciousness and the physical brain.

He worked in Western medicine for 14 years across multiple fields: emergency medicine, forensics, cardiovascular wellness education, laboratory medicine, and diagnostics. But something was missing.

He found it in Chinese Medicine โ€” a field where he could treat the root of a problem instead of just its symptoms. In graduate school, TJ began studying Zen Shiatsu. Combined with acupuncture and Chinese Medical Theory, a new medicine began forming within him. His devout training in Qi Gong taught him how to cultivate and move energy in himself and for others.

TJ graduated with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, including Shiatsu, Chinese Medical Theory, Qi Gong, Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Dietary Therapy. Post-graduate, he traveled to study at three hospitals in Nanjing, China, integrating acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine with modern biomedicine.

He spent three years traveling internationally โ€” India, Thailand, Nepal, Austria, Ireland, the U.S. โ€” practising, studying, and integrating. It was through this period that his adaptation of Zen Shiatsu found its form: Bhaktiatsu.

For the past ten years, TJ has lived on Maui, where he spent a decade studying with Ram Dass and serving a g
